2018 Competition Format Announcement

2018 is here and the event weekend just got cranked to 10!

We have a revised event format in 2018 which is set to challenge the best and keep riders and spectators on the edge of their seats.

Competitors taking part in the 2018 Moto Time Attack event will have 10 sessions during Saturday and Sunday and within these 4 are point scoring, making an all new accumulative action packed format.

Riders are awarded points in line with their respective times achieved. i.e. the competitor with the quickest lap time is awarded the highest point score of 25 with lower points being awarded consecutively to competitors after that – see below for points structure.

Put simply, you must go as quick as you can in every points scoring session to accumulate points and keep ahead of your class rivals AND finish well in the grand finale on Sunday afternoon – crowing the podiums in each class accordingly.

For the very last session on the Sunday we still wanted a make of break style crescendo, so the Finals (session 10) will be a 10X points scoring round. Then to add an extra element, of the 4 points scoring sessions over the Saturday/Sunday, the points from the lowest scoring session [ drop score ] for each rider will automatically be deducted.

Finally for those wondering “but what if the person who wins the category isn’t the one who had the fastest lap?”. Don’t worry, each class will still have an individual “fastest lap” trophy, but the outright class win will come from the accumulated points. After all, we like to reward skill and bike setup, but also consistency and strategy.

We’re very excited about this new style of competition as from the moment teams arrive they need to be ‘on it’ which is a huge challenge over two days if you want to be on the top spot on Sunday.

If you’re still not signed up and haven’t done so we encourage you to get your entries in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. CLICK HERE to get the the rider entry page. Discounted rates apply if you do the Friday trackday day in conjunction with Moto Time Attack.

Additionally for those who love detail – below you’ll find the relevant excerpt from the current Provisional MTA 2018 Regulations which can be also be downloaded in full HERE. As these are provisional, changes may occur between now and the event, but we will announce any updates if this happens as soon as possible via the website and social media.
